(Summary description)Fig1. Retinal flow. Distinctive non-perfusion (dark) area in superior area. Single capture covers field even wider than conventional fluorescein angiography. With remarkable detail of vessels in all sizes (please note the radial peripapillary capillary inferior to the disc, and the vessel arch ring around FAZ).

Fig1.

Fig2. Choroid vessels slab. No significant non-flow change, while the image itself is quite astonishing for the first-time viewers.

Fig3. Choroid structural enface. Laser spots from photocoagulation are visualized in superior and temporal side.

Fig4. Structure Enface of retinal deep vasculature complex. Hard exudates are identified as bright dots spreading over the retina. Laser spots can be seen at the same positions of choroid, not as sharp as from there though.

Fig5. Choriocapillaris flow (Left) and structure (Right). Dark spots from flow image are non-flow area from photocoagulation, while the signal is intact in structure, demonstrating it’s more of a “induced functional loss” than structural dystrophy.

Fig6. Flow density map from retina slab. Non-perfusion area shows intense “cool” color, indicates extreme low circulation in this lesion.

Fig7. Thanks to the high resolution, FAZ indexes can be listed automatically in the report.

All images above are from one scan by TowardPi 400KHz SS-OCT system: “BMizar”. Single capture, with no concern of overlap regions, the final result is even larger than montage from 5 or 6 12mm scans! Acquisition time is only about 15 seconds, that make this technology become truly feasible in real daily practice.

Image courtesy and endorsement from Prof. Mingwei Zhao (Peking University People’s Hospital, Beijing, China): "Congrats to TowardPi, for breaking through the technic bottleneck with your diligent work, developing OCT/OCTA device with such high speed, wide field and high-resolution features, pushing the limit of OCT to an unprecedented level. Be proud of you!"
