UWFOCTA is “greatly superior to” UWF-SLO in detecting vascular abnormality for FEVR!

Young age, poor cooperation, peripheral lesion…What a big combination of challenges for all traditional OCT devices. However, things changed when we have 400KHz SS-OCTA.

Team of Prof. Xiaoyan Ding published new research in RETINA “Ultra-wide-field optical coherence tomography angiography in mild familial exudative vitreoretinopathy” comparing the detective ratio amongst ultra-wide-field optical coherence tomography angiography (UWF-OCTA, TowardPi BMizar), UWF-SLO and UWF-FA for FEVR. It turned out that TowardPi BMizar was greatly superior to UWF-SLO and comparable or better (VRT etc.) than UWF-FA.

Conclusion: UWF-OCTA is a reliable non-invasive tool to detect FEVR lesions, offers an alternative to UWF-FA for the screening and diagnosis of FEVR.
