On the first morning of the conference, Professor Fangtian Dong, Chairman of the "One Belt One Road" Ophthalmology Alliance and former Director of the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) Hospital Ophthalmology Department, introduced TowardPi to the National Health and Wellness Commission delegation at the exhibition area. TowardPi Medical has made significant contributions to the ophthalmology industry with its independently developed commercialized 400KHz wide-field OCTA. Its ophthalmic technology is leading the way in ultra-widefield retinal imaging and facilitating non-invasive, efficient, and precise diagnosis and treatment.
During the academic presentations at the conference, Professor Xiaobing Yu from Beijing Hospital shared the achievements of the new technology and applications of "UWF SS-OCTA." Professor Yu first reviewed the development history of OCT in ophthalmology, with a special emphasis on TowardPi Medical's independently developed 400KHz wide-field OCTA, which has brought revolutionary clinical and research value with its ultra-high speed and ultra-widefield (UWF) capabilities.
TowadPi Medical's latest development, the 3D OCT AI lumen recognition algorithm, provides images of large blood vessels in the choroid, opening up new perspectives for research on various diseases, including choroidal thickening spectrum diseases. The new technology, 3D OCTA (three-dimensional perspective vascular network), transitions OCTA observation and follow-up from 2D to 3D. In addition, the iSpot imaging function, a novel image mode, intelligently combines surface blood flow with non-perfusion and deep EnFace laser spots. This innovation significantly advances non-invasive OCTA, potentially replacing traditional angiography.
Professor Yu also detailed the development background and application examples of TowardPi Medical's new "Retinal Morphology Triad" function based on 1536x1280 large data UWF SS-OCT. This function highly affirms the broad application prospects of true 3D retina, retinal curvature, and retinal height maps in optometry, myopia prevention and control for children, and highly myopic fundus lesions.
At this conference, TowardPi Medical showcased three ophthalmic devices: the 400KHz wide-field OCTA - BMizar, the 100KHz high-definition wide-field OCTA - YAlkaid, and the newly launched dynamic panoramic visualization swept-source optical biometer - Zalioth.
BMizar can obtain 120-degree ultra-widefield three-dimensional structure and blood flow data in 15 seconds, with voxel points exceeding ten billion, and its unique algorithm for large blood vessels in the choroid enables high-resolution imaging and accurate quantification of the choroid.
YAlkaid integrates both anterior and posterior segment OCT and OCTA functionalities, offering excellent new choroidal images to meet clinical and research needs in various ophthalmic subspecialties.
Zalioth measures all ocular biometric parameters in one go, obtaining corneal front and back surface topography, artificial lens selection, and lens tilt and eccentricity analysis, which supports refractive cataract surgery. It can be upgraded with a microscope for three-dimensional cataract navigation.
These three devices captured the experience and discussion of many domestic and international experts and doctors.
