(Summary description)A 73-year-old female was diagnosed with Asteroid Hyalosis in both eyes with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy. From high-resolution B-scan images, dense hyperreflective dots in the vitreous cavity can be seen clearly within 6 mm scan depth just like a beautiful starry night (fig1 top. more severe in right eye). The 3D reconstruction revealed the marvelous real structure of the degenerative vitreous and its position in the retina (fig1 bottom).

"Starry night" detected with UWF full-range swept-source OCTA.

A 73-year-old female was diagnosed with Asteroid Hyalosis in both eyes with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy.

UWF full-range OCTA of the superficial retina slab detected small non-perfusion areas in both eyes (fig2). No neo-vascularization was found. A 400kHz speed full-range swept-source OCTA (BMizar from TowardPi) was used in this case. Ultra-wide field with 6mm scan depth makes it easy to detect all the details from vitreous, and retina to choroid with precise segmentation for all slabs.
