One more evidence! 24mm OCTA replace FFA for diabetic retinopathy evaluation.
“Comparison of 24×20 mm2 swept-source OCTA and fluorescein angiography for the evaluation of lesions in diabetic retinopathy” published in <International Journal of Ophthalmology>. Shows “intraclass coefficient (ICCs) of all the parameters (FAZ, NPA, MA, NV) indicated stable repeatability”, concludes that “UWF SS-OCTA represents a reliable, noninvasive, and quantitative imaging technique in the assessment of microvasculature in DR, which offers a potential substitute for FA in DR evaluation” .
It was the second study published in one month (see previous post), reaches to the same conclusion. The UWF SS-OCTA at same and even better level in the management of diabetic retinopathy than FFA.
Once again, the UWF SS-OCTA in the study is BMizar, a 400KHz speed SS-OCT/OCTA system from TowardPi. A 120° OCTA within only 15 seconds.
