(Summary description)This is a wonderful case recently published in <Ophthalmology> using UWF full-range SS-OCTA assessing myopic staphyloma. A 65-year-old female with pathologic myopia was found with severe choroidal atrophy at the posterior pole in color fundus photo (B). Ultra-wide 24mm high-resolution B-scan confirmed a type Ⅸ Curtin pattern staphyloma with nasal and temporal involvement from the optic nerve head (A). 18mm x 18mm SS-OCTA showed retinal vessels in 3 confluent staphylomas (C). 3D reconstruction of OCT angiography from TowardPi Medical revealed this unusual aspect of triple staphyloma (asterisks in D).

A 400kHz speed full-range swept-source OCTA (#BMizar, TowardPi Medical) was used in this case. Up to 24mm x 20mm full-range OCTA with 6mm scan depth can be achieved in 7-15 minutes, making it easy to explore the whole myopic staphyloma. 3D reconstruction of both structures and OCTA is available on the device.
This case is authored by Dr. Marco Rispoli and Dr. Marta Gilardi from Presidio Ospedaliero Oftalmico, Rome, Italy.
