New research “Comparison of widefield SS-OCTA with UWF-FA for the evaluation of lesions in RVO” published in <BMC Ophthalmology>. 34 eyes of 32 patients with treatment-naïve RVO were enrolled imaged with a UWF-FA and 120° single scan SS-OCTA (BMizar BM-400K, TowardPi Medical). It turned out that “widefield SS-OCTA was comparable or even SUPERIOR in detecting FAZ, NPA, capillary changes and collateral vessels in RVO”. “Widefield SS-OCTA can visualize microvascular abnormalities BETTER than UWF-FA in RVO eyes”. “MORE collateral vessels were found in SS-OCTA than UWFFA. This advantage may potentially change the paradigm of diagnosis and follow-up of RVO based on FA”.

Following the study of diabetic retinopathy management (previous post), TowardPi 400KHz achieved another major breakthrough in clinical application.
