(Summary description)Massive hemorrhagic retinal pigment epithelial detachment (PED) secondary to polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) , pre and post surgery. Fig1. 24mm SS-OCT image before surgery demonstrated the subretinal hemorrhage (green asterisk) and elevation of RPE temporal to the macula (yellow asterisk); Fig2. 24mm SS-OCT image taken 1 day after surgery proved flattening of PED, a double-layer sign, and choroidal excavation together with mild subretinal fluid in the macula. Patient underwent PPV combined with subretinal injection of tPA, intravitreous injection of anti-VEGF medicine, and perfluoropropane tamponade.

Case reports from American Journal of Ophthalmology (AJO).
All OCT images in the report were captured by BMizar, a 400KHz speed SS-OCT from TowardPi. 24 mm width and 6 mm depth accommodated very well for large size massive PED.
Authored by team of Prof. Xiaoyun Fang; first author: Dr. Fang Zheng. The Second Affiliated Hospital Zhejiang University School of Medicine etc.
