“Undetectable”,as choroidal vessel quantification change in eyes, exists but not able to be detected. It‘s time for us to change this perception with ultra-wide OCTA technology.
<Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology> (IF 5.89 updated in 2022) published new research < Advanced UWF OCTA identifies previously undetectable changes in biomechanics-related parameters in nonpathological myopic fundus>, revealed significant reduction of choroidal vessel density in myopic subjects, so is the thickness of inner and outer retina thickness in peripheral fundi. And the reductions were associated with myopia severity.
24x20mm OCTA images were captured by a 400KHz SS-OCT system (BMizar, TowardPi). All quantification data were acquired by built-in automatic analysis software and corrected ocular magnification with axial lengths. The findings in this study highlight the importance of using the advanced UWF OCTA system for early and thorough detection of fundus changes in subjects with non-pathological high myopia.
